May This Be Love

This is another mellow track that I had made reference to in a previous post. If you are familiar with his work you could say he liked to play his music pretty loud; however, his occasional soft and dreamy ballads are quite breathtaking. This track is from the "Are You Experienced" album (my favorite btw). Without a doubt this has to be in my top 5 Hendrix songs. It’s such a short song but that doesn't matter because of how sweet it is. Just listening to this is like falling down a waterfall really slow. It has a sort of spring time mood that is just so warm and cool altogether. There is so much beauty in the solo at the end. I can never get enough of it.

I’ve been trying to metaphorically analyze this song but nothing comes to mind. It’s good to just sometimes take the song as it is. However, at one point I was thinking maybe he’s referring to his guitar as the waterfall. Jimi and his guitar were one in the same. When he was a little kid he used to carry it around everywhere he went. He could release and express his emotions through his music that displayed wonderful works of art. He had nothing to worry about when he had it by his side to play and it wouldn’t judge him at all either. The rainbow could represent some sort of inspiration, which would then lead into creating. In my opinion, day dreaming is just being creative and letting your mind flow to wherever possible (Not being lazy).

Waterfall
Nothing can harm me at all
My worries seem so very small
With my waterfall
I can see
My rainbow calling me
Through the misty breeze
Of my waterfall
Some people say
Day-dreaming’s for all the, huh,
Lazy minded fools
With nothin' else to do
So let them laugh, laugh at me
So just as long as I have you
To see me through
I have nothing to lose
'Long as I have you
Waterfall
Don't ever change your ways
Fall with me for a million days
Oh, my waterfall

*Epic solo*
