Little Wing

It’s been awhile since my last entry. I’ve been all loaded on painkillers because I recently had knee surgery. So it’s time to share another song with y’all.
This song Little Wing is yet another ballad type song.  It is from the Axis: Bold as Love album.  This might even be my favorite Jimi track but it’s so hard to just pick one.  Like the past two songs I’ve shared this one shares similar characteristics. It’s short, sweet and to the point.  I believe Jimi is describing an angel--possibly his guardian angel.  When he’s sad she comes to comfort him.  He had a hard life as a child and even at the beginning of his music career.  I love how he describes her in the first few lines.  These lyrics would fit perfectly into a fairy tale story.  I believe he wanted to dedicate a song to someone who was always there for him through thick and thin.  I hope y’all enjoy this track!
Peace.

Well she's walking through the clouds
With a circus mind that's running round
Butterflies and zebras
And moonbeams and fairy tales
That's all she ever thinks about
Riding with the wind.
When I'm sad, she comes to me
With a thousand smiles, she gives to me free
It's alright she says it's alright
Take anything you want from me, anything
Anything.
Fly on little wing,
Yeah yeah, yeah, little wing

Wild Thing

Live at Monterey Pop Festival 1967
This is the most amazing live performance of music ever from what I have seen. I cannot even imagine being there and feeling the great and overwhelming energy he produced. Enjoy.

May This Be Love

This is another mellow track that I had made reference to in a previous post. If you are familiar with his work you could say he liked to play his music pretty loud; however, his occasional soft and dreamy ballads are quite breathtaking. This track is from the "Are You Experienced" album (my favorite btw). Without a doubt this has to be in my top 5 Hendrix songs. It’s such a short song but that doesn't matter because of how sweet it is. Just listening to this is like falling down a waterfall really slow. It has a sort of spring time mood that is just so warm and cool altogether. There is so much beauty in the solo at the end. I can never get enough of it.

I’ve been trying to metaphorically analyze this song but nothing comes to mind. It’s good to just sometimes take the song as it is. However, at one point I was thinking maybe he’s referring to his guitar as the waterfall. Jimi and his guitar were one in the same. When he was a little kid he used to carry it around everywhere he went. He could release and express his emotions through his music that displayed wonderful works of art. He had nothing to worry about when he had it by his side to play and it wouldn’t judge him at all either. The rainbow could represent some sort of inspiration, which would then lead into creating. In my opinion, day dreaming is just being creative and letting your mind flow to wherever possible (Not being lazy).

Waterfall
Nothing can harm me at all
My worries seem so very small
With my waterfall
I can see
My rainbow calling me
Through the misty breeze
Of my waterfall
Some people say
Day-dreaming’s for all the, huh,
Lazy minded fools
With nothin' else to do
So let them laugh, laugh at me
So just as long as I have you
To see me through
I have nothing to lose
'Long as I have you
Waterfall
Don't ever change your ways
Fall with me for a million days
Oh, my waterfall

*Epic solo*

One Rainy Wish

So to start out this blog I would love to share this beautiful song with you all. "One Rainy Wish" is from the Axis: Bold as Love album. Not a very well known song so I figured to start out with this one.  Not only was he a guitar master, the lyrics he wrote paint such wonderful pictures. If you have heard his "May this be love" it has a very similar kind of vibe to it. I just love playing it on a warm, nice and sunny day.
I know that "Purple Haze" describes a dream Jimi had as does this one. The first 30 seconds or so seems like a sort of drifting like vibe; maybe to describe the feeling of drifting off to sleep. At the opening of the song I love how he uses different types of flowers to describe the colors within his dream. He's found this beautiful girl sleeping in peace under a singing tree with dancing flowers surrounded with gold, purple and blue light. It seems like he's experienced a love at first sight. While in a slow tempo he is just observing her asleep, but when she wakes up and smiles at him, he is just astounded at the amount of beauty and you can definitely hear that sudden burst being portrayed through his guitar. I love the last 6 lines and how he says it in a very emotional way. The eleven moons playing about the rainbows sounds something out of a fairytale. It seems that all of this is occurring because of the kind of love he felt for this girl. He wanted to describe a very powerful dream and he did it with this amazing song.
After breaking down this song it seems like a whole new song to me now. I've listened to it countless times and have payed attention to the words, but not in a way such as this. I hope you all enjoy this one.
Golden rose, the color of the dream I had not too long ago
Misty blue and the lilac too never to grow old
There you were under the tree of song
sleeping so peacefully
In your hand a flower played awaiting there for me
I have never
laid eyes on you not before this timeless day
But you woke and whoa smiled my name
And you stole my heart away
A stole my heart away little girl, yeah, All right!
Golden rose, the color of the dream I had
not too long ago
Misty blue and lilac too never to grow old
Golden rose, the color of the dream I had

Misty blue and lilac too
Golden rose, the color of the dream I had
Misty blue and lilac too
Gold and rose, gold are rose, gold and rose
It's only a dream

I'd love to tell somebody about this dream
The sky was filled with a thousand stars
While the sun kissed the mountains blue
And eleven moons played across rainbows above me and you
Gold and rose the color of the velvet walls surround us.

...And the gods made love

My life revolves around music of all kinds.  Anything ranging from metal, dubstep, classic rock to rap and even classical.  I have a great passion for music and would like to dedicate this blog to Jimi Hendrix, who I consider to be one of the greatest musicians of all time. His music just flows through my soul and speaks to me like nothing other. Throughout this blog I just want to share and discuss songs and anything and everything of Hendrix.
Peace, Love and Good Vibes.
